Pu-Erh or Pu-er is a variety of tea produced in Yunnan province, China and named after Pu ‘er City.  It is the only tea to be fermented alongside the usual oxidation process using centuries-old traditions. The light to dark brown Sinensis leaf develops a strong, spicy and earthy taste and, depending on the drawing time, an earthy and woody flavour with a dark red coloured infusion. Pu-erh has been viewed as an aid to digestion and weight loss and it has been claimed, to reduce cholesterol, combat ageing, reduce the risk of heart disease, and help with circulation to name a few of the reputed benefits.
